A product’s success can also lie in its appearance. You protect it with registered designs – quickly, at comparatively low cost and often more effectively than you might think.

Filing in Germany, the EU and internationally
Registered designs at the DPMA, registered EU designs at the EUIPO and international registrations under the Hague System.

The right representations
With designs, the images filed determine the scope of protection. I select them with you so that imitations are caught.

Trade fair, catalogue, market launch: I plan with you when to file – and how to make sensible use of the twelve-month grace period.

Where form meets function
Features dictated solely by technical function are excluded from design protection. Where form and function interlock, I combine design, patent and trade mark.

I take consistent action against imitations – from the warning letter to court proceedings.
My assessment
Design protection is often underestimated.
Many successful products are copied for their shape, not their technology. A well-prepared design is then the fastest way to fight back.
